Women’s golf finishes third at rain-shortened home tourney

THE SHORT STORY: Earlham College sophomore Megan Garner paced the Quakers in Friday's round of the rain-shortened 2019 Earlham College Women's Spring Invitational, held at the Richmond Elks Lodge & Country Club in Richmond, Ind. Saturday's scheduled second round was canceled due to course conditions.


  • Garner fired an 89 (+17) on the par 72, 5,808-yard Richmond Elks course, and finished tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard. Claire Waggener was also among the top 10 with a 91 (+19), and was tied for seventh. 
  • College of Wooster's Tongtong Wu completed Friday's round atop the individual leaderboard and took medalist honors for the tournament. She carded an eight-over 80, and was three strokes ahead of teammate Megan Gronau.
  • Earlham carded a 396 (+108) on Friday and finished the round third among three teams. College of Wooster won the event's team championship with a 338 (+50).

The Earlham College Women's Spring Invitational was the final event on the schedule for Earlham women's golf in 2018-19.
