Women's lacrosse comes up short versus Trine

RICHMOND, Ind. – Trine University rattled off seven straight goals to break open a tie game on its way to a 10-4 win over Earlham College, in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday at Darrell Beane Stadium.

After Trine took a 2-0 lead in the first half, Earlham (0-2) knotted the game at 2-2 with free position goals from Lauren Cole and Olivia Wallace.

The Thunder tacked on four more goals before the end of the first half to take a 6-2 lead, then stretched their advantage to 9-2 with three more scores to open the second half.

The Quakers finally broke the Thunder's scoring run when Wallace notched her second goal of the game to cut the margin to 9-3, before Emma Lady added a fourth goal for Earlham. Trine capped the scoring with their final goal with just under two minutes remaining.

Trine outshot Earlham, 36-20, with Quaker goalie Jordan Blackburne charting 14 saves. The Quakers were 3-of-8 on free-position shots, while the Thunder were 2-of-7.

Earlham women's lacrosse returns to action on Saturday, March 17, when it travels to Tiffin, Ohio, to face Heidelberg University. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
