Women's lacrosse tripped up by Saint Vincent, 17-5

RICHMOND, Ind. – Olivia Wallace scored twice for Earlham College women's lacrosse and three other players scored one goal each as the Quakers were felled by visiting Saint Vincent College, 17-5, on Sunday afternoon at Darrell Beane Stadium.

Emma Lady, Esmerelda Mendiola, and Michele Sepulveda posted single goals for the Quakers, who fell to 2-8 overall, 1-5 in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference, with the loss.

Earlham ran headlong into a Saint Vincent squad led by Maggie Nelson, who entered the weekend as the Division III leader in points per game. Nelson tallied 11 of the Bearcats' 17 goals and had one assist, while Naomi Schwaiger finished with five goals. Courtney Kloos accounted for the remaining Saint Vincent goal.

Jordan Blackburne charted 10 saves on the afternoon over her 60 minutes in the Earlham goal, while Saint Vincent goalie Maria Franey tallied seven stops in the Bearcat goal.

Saint Vincent outshot Earlham, 34-17, and the Bearcats had 30 ground balls to the Quakers' 25. Each team won 12 draw controls during the game.

Earlham completes its stretch of three games over four days on Tuesday, April 10, when it hosts Centre College at Darrell Beane Stadium in a 7:00 p.m. game.
