RICHMOND, Ind. – For the second time this season, Earlham College women's lacrosse carried a sweep of the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference's two player of the week awards, with first-year Claudette Roskamp and sophomore Jordan Blackburne taking weekly honors for their efforts last week.
Roskamp earned HCLC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, after charting eight goals and one assist for nine points over Earlham's two games last week. She finished with six goals in Earlham's 15-3 win over Bethany College, and also recorded nine ground balls, five draw controls, and four caused turnovers against the Bison.
Earlier in the week, Roskamp recorded two goals and one assist in the Quakers' 17-4 loss to Marian University, who was ranked No. 7 in the NAIA coaches' poll. She also was credited with four ground balls and four draw controls versus the Knights.
Roskamp currently leads the HCLC in both goals (55) and points (60) and is ranked sixth among Division III leaders in total goals.
Blackburne picked up the HCLC Defensive Player of the Week award for the second time this season and the third time in her career, after charting 27 saves over two games. She recorded a career-high 23 stops in Earlham clash with Marian University and was credited with four saves in the victory over Bethany. Blackburne also picked up three ground balls against each opponent, giving her six for the week. She was also credited with an assist on one of Earlham's goals against Marian.
Earlham women's lacrosse is currently 7-4 overall, 1-0 in the HCLC, with five conference games remaining on the schedule. The Quakers will return to action on Saturday, April 6, when they travel to Anderson, Ind., to face Anderson University in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
