RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's soccer team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play when the Quakers travel to Defiance College for a 3:30 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
The Teams: Earlham and Defiance. The Quakers enter the game with a 5-7-0 overall record and 1-2-0 mark in HCAC play after a pair of 2-1 losses last week including one in double overtime to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Yellow Jackets are 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the HCAC. Defiance has scored two goals in its current 8-game losing streak.
The Coaches: Chad Hardin is in his second year as Earlham's head women's soccer coach. He previously achieved a 43-42-5 record in five seasons at Marian University under Hardin after a 6-27-2 mark the previous two seasons. Jenny Vincent, the 2007 Ohio Northern University graduate, has been Defiance's head coach since the 2014 season.
The Players: A trio of freshmen lead Earlham offensively. Freshman Chloe Lamenzo has scored eight goals and dished out four assists for 20 points, freshman Yana Miller has scored six goals and freshmen Jordan Blackburne has five goals. Freshman Hailey Beel, who has dished out a team-high five assists, has also scored three goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Sari Stissi has a 1.57 goals against average and makes over six saves per game. Defiance has scored five goals as a team this season with three of them coming off the foot of Kassie Memmer.
Youth Movement: Earlham's top four offensive producers are all freshmen. Furthermore, 67 of 81 offensive points have come from first-years.
Recent History: Earlham is 2-2-3 against Defiance since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Yellow Jackets have won the last two meetings including a 3-1 victory in Richmond during the 2016 season.
