RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's soccer team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play when the Quakers travel to Hanover College for a 3:30 p.m. contest on Wednesday afternoon.
The Teams: Earlham and Hanover. The Quakers are 6-8-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the HCAC after falling 3-0 to Anderson University on Wednesday. The Panthers are 10-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play after three consecutive shutout victories. Hanover most recently defeated Bluffton University 2-0.
The Coaches: Chad Hardin is in his second year as Earlham's head women's soccer coach. He previously achieved a 43-42-5 record in five seasons at Marian University under Hardin after a 6-27-2 mark the previous two seasons. Jim Watts, who served as Earlham's head coach from 2001-2007, has led the Hanover women's soccer program since the 2008 season.
The Players: A trio of freshmen lead Earlham offensively. Freshman Chloe Lamenzo has scored nine goals and dished out five assists for 23 points while freshman Yana Miller has scored seven goals and freshman Jordan Blackburne found the back of the net six times. Sophomore goalkeeper Sari Stissi has a 1.56 goals against average and notched her third shutout of the season at Defiance last Wednesday. Maisyn Garland, who has found the back of the net five times, leads a Panther offense which has scored 23 goals this season. Hanover, one of the HCAC's top defensive units, has allowed just nine goals this season for a goals against average of 0.69.
Youth Movement: Earlham's top four offensive producers are all freshmen. Furthermore, 75 of 92 offensive points have come from first-years.
Recent History: Earlham is 3-5-0 against Hanover since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Panthers have won the last four games including by a 7-0 margin the last three seasons.
