RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College women's soccer team begins the final week of the 2017 regular season by hosting Transylvania University for a 3:30 p.m. contest at Matlack-Messer Stadium on Wednesday.
The Teams: Earlham and Transylvania. The Quakers are 6-10-0 overall and 2-5-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play after a 5-2 loss at Franklin College on Saturday. The Pioneers are 5-9-2 overall and 3-4-0 in conference play after a 2-0 loss at Anderson University on Saturday.
The Coaches: Chad Hardin is in his second year as Earlham's head women's soccer coach. He previously achieved a 43-42-5 record in five seasons at Marian University under Hardin after a 6-27-2 mark the previous two seasons. Luis Reis, who led Wheaton College (Massachusetts) to 357 wins in 20 seasons, is in his first season leading the Pioneers' women's soccer program.
The Players: A trio of freshmen lead Earlham offensively. Freshman Chloe Lamenzo has scored nine goals and dished out five assists for 23 points while freshman Yana Miller has also scored nine goals and freshman Jordan Blackburne found the back of the net six times. Sophomore goalkeeper Sari Stissi has a 1.74 goals against average and has three shutouts on the season. Casey Hite and Cecilia Walton have combined to score seven goals for the Pioneers.
Youth Movement: Earlham's top four offensive producers are all freshmen. Furthermore, 80 of 97 offensive points have come from first-years.
Recent History: Earlham is 3-5-1 against Transylvania since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010 season. The Pioneers have one won the last four meetings including a 4-0 triumph in Lexington, Kentucky, last season.
