RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's tennis team hosts Hanover College this Saturday in its conference opener. The match will begin at noon.
The Teams: Earlham and Hanover. Earlham is 2-1 for the first time since the 2013-2014 season and will look to continue their winning ways. Hanover started off their season with the Georgetown (Ky.) Invitational. This weekend will be the first dual match for Hanover and also the first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) match for both teams.
The Coaches: Shawn Hyden enters his second season as the head women's tennis coach at Earlham. In his first season with the program, Hyden led the men's team to the HCAC Tournament finals for the first time since the 2014-2015 season. This season Hyden led the women's team to its first victory since the 2014-2015 season. Eric LaRue is the first year head coach for the Panthers. LaRue comes to Hanover after spending five seasons at Tennessee Wesleyan University.
The Players: Freshmen Alexandra Canaday and Kathryn Hulleman were vital in this past Wednesday's win over Capital and went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles. Junior Yunjoo Shin continues to be perfect in singles play, boasting a record of 3-0. Senior Arrita Domi is now 2-1 in doubles play and has played at first, second and third doubles.
The History: Last season the Panthers defeated the Quakers 9-0. Earlham will look to reverse those results this season.
