RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's tennis team will travel to Terra Haute, Ind. to take on Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology this Saturday at 11 a.m. in a pivotal Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) matchup.
The Teams: Earlham and Rose-Hulman. Earlham is now 6-6 on the season and has secured a sixth place finish in the HCAC. Rose-Hulman is 7-2 on the season and currently sitting at third in the conference standings.
The Coaches: Shawn Hyden enters his second season as the head women's tennis coach at Earlham. In his first season with the program, Hyden led the men's team to the HCAC Tournament finals for the first time since the 2014-2015 season. This season Hyden led the women's team to its best start since the 2010-2011 season. Dan Hopkins is in his 30th season as the head coach of the Engineers.
The Players: Junior Yunjoo Shin leads the way for the Quakers with 12 singles wins at second and third singles. Freshman Alexandra Canaday has the second most singles wins with five overall. Freshman Kathryn Hulleman and seniors Lexi Aligarbes and Arrita Domi are all tied for third with three wins apiece. Canaday is Earlham's most successful doubles players with seven wins.
The History: Last year the Quakers were swept by the Engineers 9-0.
