RICHMOND, Indiana - The Earlham College women's tennis team sent its seniors off with a 6-3 win over Indiana Institute of Technology (Indiana Tech) at the Upper Tennis Courts on Monday afternoon. The win propels the Quakers to a 7-7 finish to the regular season, the program's highest wins total since the 2008 campaign.
The Quakers jumped out to a quick 2-1 lead after doubles to start the match. Junior Yunjoo Shin and freshman Alexandra Canaday ended the regular season on a high note with an 8-1 win at second doubles. The win propelled the duo to 7-4 on the season. Third doubles was won by default.
Senior Lexi Aligarbes finished her regular season career with a strong 6-2, 6-3 victory at fifth singles. This was Aligarbes fourth singles win of the season, which is a career high. Shin and Canaday also won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-2 respectively. Sixth singles was won by default.
The Quakers have qualified for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament for the first time this season and will be travelling to the West Indy Racquet Club to compete this Friday. As the sixth seed, they will play the third seed, Rose-Hulman. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
