RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College sophomore Ellie Haland (Afton, Minn./Math and Science Academy) received Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors on Monday, following her performance at Saturday's Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Denison University.
Haland took first place in the 800m with a time of 2:23.11, posting the fastest 800m in the HCAC this season and ranked 10th in the Great Lakes Region. She also ran a leg for Earlham's 4x400m team, which finished second with a time of 4:22.94 – second-best time in the HCAC.
The HCAC weekly award is the first of Haland's career.
Earlham finished seventh of 14 teams in the Bob Shannon Invitational with 35 points, with Haland helping account for 18 points between her individual and relay events.
The Earlham men's and women's track and field teams are in action this Saturday, Feb. 9, when they travel to Greencastle, Ind., to compete at the DePauw Invitational.
