RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College senior Aishat Sadiq (Richmond, Texas/Carnegie Vanguard) helped capture 36 of the Quakers' 99 points at Saturday's Indiana Division III Track & Field Championships, and was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 14, 2019.
Sadiq claimed a pair of first-place finishes and two second-place finishes during the Indiana D-III meet at DePauw University. She won both the 100m (12.24 seconds) and the 200m (25.35 seconds) – both in meet record times. Her 100m time kept her atop the Great Lakes Region performance list while her 200m time is second in the Region, and both times top the HCAC performance lists. Sadiq's 100m time is ranked 16th on the Division III performance list, while the 200m time is 24th in Division III.
Sadiq also ran the anchor leg for Earlham's second-place team in the 4x100m relay, which posted an Earlham record time of 49.63 seconds. Finally, she earned eight points with a second-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 16-3 1/4 (4.96m).
The HCAC weekly award is Sadiq's second of the season; she won HCAC Track Athlete of the Week honors on January 28, 2019, during the Quakers' indoor track season. The award is the fourth HCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor received by Earlham women's track and field this season.
The Earlham men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational this Saturday, April 20, in the Quakers' final tune-up before the HCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, at Mount St. Joseph University.
