RICHMOND, Ind. – For the second straight week, Earlham College senior Aishat Sadiq (Richmond, Texas/Carnegie Vanguard) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week following an impressive display during the Georgia Tech Invitational.
Sadiq claimed the award for the week ending April 21, 2019, after running an Earlham record time of 12.14 seconds on Friday at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. Running against a mostly Division I field, Sadiq finished 17th out of 49 competitors in the event. Her time ranks seventh in the 100m on the NCAA Division III performance list, and is the top time in the Great Lakes Region.
Sadiq also ran in the 200m at the Georgia Tech Invitational, posting a personal best time of 25.22 – ranked 19th on the NCAA D-III performance list, and second in the Great Lakes Region.
The HCAC weekly award is Sadiq's third of the season; she won HCAC Track Athlete of the Week honors on January 28, 2019, during the Quakers' indoor track season, and took the award again on April 16 during the outdoor season. The award is the fifth HCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor received by Earlham women's track and field this season.
The Earlham men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the HCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, at Mount St. Joseph University.
