SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – Sophomore Ana Sosa-Ebert finished second overall to lead the Earlham women's cross country team to a third-place finish out of six teams at the Manchester Univ. Blue River Park Memorial Invitational on Saturday.
Sosa-Ebert posted a time of 24:27.3 in the 6K event. She was 25 seconds off the pace set by Manchester's Hannah Wappes, who won with a time of 24:02.7.
Remy Haggerty (26:07.0), Mairead Blatner (26:18.0), and Ellie Haland (26:22.4) finished 17th, 18th, and 19th in the field, while Shianna Bellingham crossed 25th overall with a time of 26:58.0 to round out the scoring runners for the Quakers.
Earlham finished with 79 points, and had the best finish among the three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schools in the event.
Ohio Northern won the meet with 37 points, with Trine University finishing second with 67 points. Manchester was two points off Earlham's score with 81 points, followed by Bluffton (88 points) and Anderson (179 points).
Earlham women's cross country is idle next weekend before returning to action on Friday, Sept. 28, when they travel to Decatur, Ill., to compete in the Millikin University H.W. Wright Classic.
