RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College junior Ellie Haland (Afton, Minn./Math and Science Academy) was selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, after winning the two-mile race at Friday's Wilmington College Quaker Challenge XC Invitational.
Haland recorded a time of 12:30.6 in the two-mile event, leading a field of 58 runners. Her time was nearly nine seconds faster than her closest competitor.
Haland led Earlham women's cross country to a third-place finish out of five teams in the event with 59 points. She was one of two Quakers to finish among the top five, with sophomore Remy Haggerty (12:52.0) placing fifth.
Earlham men's cross country is idle this week, and returns to competition on Saturday, Sept. 14, when it runs at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational in Delaware, Ohio.
