Fayyaz paces women’s XC at Ohio Wesleyan 6K Invitational

POWELL, Ohio – Junior Shabnam Fayyaz was the top Earlham College finisher as the Quakers placed eighth out of nine teams at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational 6K women's meet, Saturday afternoon at Liberty Park.

Fayyaz crossed the finish line in a time of 26:15.8 in 46th place, and was 40th in the points.

Sophomore Shianna Bellingham (26:31.4) was 48th overall, while first-year Elena Stirn (26:59.5) was just outside the top 50 in 52nd-place overall.

Serena Pisacano (59th, 27:33.0) and Lindsey Gearin (64th, 27:52.8) rounded out the scoring runners for Earlham. A total of 99 runners completed the 6K course.

Earlham finished with 222 points and was eighth out of nine teams in the event. Kenyon College took first place with 27 points, and Kenyon runners took the top three spots in the individual results led by Emma Becker (22:52.9).

Earlham cross country is idle next week but returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Greater Louisville Classic.
