EC Travels to Manchester

NO. MANCHESTER, Ind. — After a bye week, the Earlham College football team resumed its schedule on Saturday with a 45-9 loss at Manchester University.

The Quakers got on the scoreboard against the Spartans (3-4, 3-2) in the final quarter of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair with a field goal and a touchdown.

Early in the period, Ryan Acosta (San Juan, PR, Commonwealth) booted a 32-yard field goal at the 13:32 mark to cap a 12-play, 60-yard drive.

Earlham's last score came with 5:40 remaining in the game when quarterback Alonzo Genelin (Arcadia, WI, Arcadia) tossed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Alonzo Toscano (Edcouch, TX, Edcouch Elsa).

Genelin completed 9-of-14 passes for 62 yards and the one score. Earlham quarterback Matt Couch (Versailles, KY, Woodford County) connected on 14-of-28 passes for 107 yards.

Alex Kerby (Winnsboro, TX, Minneola) had eight receptions for 41 yards, while Jalen Kenner (Reserve, LA, East St. John) caught six passes for 66 yards. Toscano had for catches for 32 yards.

Defensively, Kaleb Lingg (Dayton, OH, Northridge) led the Quakers with 17 tackles, while Dakota McElley (Lawrenceburg, IN, Lawrenceburg) finished with 15 stops.

Earlham (0-6, 0-4) celebrates Homecoming Weekend next Saturday as the Quakers entertain Anderson University. The HCAC contest starts at 1:30 p.m.
