Quakers Honor Seniors Before Taking on Lions

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College football team honored its seniors on Saturday as the Quakers closed out the home portion of the 2012 schedule.

The College of Mount St. Joseph posted a 42-14 victory over the Quakers in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair in Darrell Beane Stadium.

Seniors Andy Cain (Hamilton, OH, Hamilton), John Edouassaint (West Palm Beach, FL, Palm Beach Lakes), Bob Endicott (Vero Beach, FL, Sebastian River), Logan Goodwin (Pekin, IN, Eastern), Dakota McElley (Lawrenceburg, IN, Lawrenceburg), T.J. Sanders (Depauw, IN, North Harrison), Levi Simpson (New Salisbury, IN, North Harrison), Joel Lozada-Yanez (Mexico City, Mexico, United World College HK) and student assistant coach Kyle Fischer were honored prior to the game as they participated in their final home contest.

Matt Couch (Versailles, KY, Woodford County) led the Earlham offense with a pair of touchdown passes for the last two scores of the contest against the Lions (4-5, 3-5).

Couch and Marcus Coby (Coral Springs, FL, Heritage) hooked up for a 65-yard scoring strike at the 5:33 mark of the third quarter.

In the fourth period, Jalen Kenner (Reserve, LA, East St. John) grabbed a Couch pass for a 5-yard touchdown with 7:17 remaining in the contest.

Couch finished the afternoon by completing 13-of-30 passes for 165 yards.

Coby had two receptions for 72 yards, while Kenner also had two catches for 19 yards. Lance Sherwood (Mt. Morris, MI, Kearsley) finished with a pair of grabs for 13 yards.

Tre Stephens (Terre Haute, IN, South) led the Quakers with 54 yards rushing on 17 carries. He also caught four passes for 17 yards.

Defensively, D'Hari Curtis-Webster (Pittsburg, CA, Pittsburg) topped the Quakers with 14 tackles.

McElley and Kaleb Lingg (Dayton, OH, Northridge) finished with a dozen stops each. Lingg had a sack and two other tackles for a loss to go along with a pair of pass breakups.

Earlham (1-8, 1-6) ends the season next Saturday at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the annual Battle of the Boarders Broadsword contest. The HCAC game gets underway at 1:30 p.m.
