Quakers Visit Yellow Jackets

DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Earlham College football team dropped a 43-7 decision on Saturday to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Defiance College.

The Yellow Jackets led 22-0 after the first quarter before the Quakers scored in the second period.

Tre Stephens scored on a 7-yard run for the Quakers at the 12:10 mark of the second quarter.

Defiance (2-3, 2-1) added a touchdown in the third and two more in the fourth.

Stephens finished with 58 yards rushing to go with his touchdown.

Earlham quarterback Matt Couch finished the afternoon by completing 21-of-47 passes for 193 yards.

Leslie Dunlap led Earlham with nine receptions for 116 yards. Jalen Kenner also had nine grabs for 84 yards.

Defensively, Junior Jean led the Quakers with eight tackles.

Kaleb Lingg, Denis Caulley and Lajay Kelly added seven tackles apiece. Caulley and Kelly each had an interception.  

After a week off, the Quakers return home to entertain Manchester University on Saturday, Oct. 19. The Homcoming contest in Darrell Beane Stadium starts at 2:30 p.m.
