Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Earlham College football squad went on the road for the final time of the season on Saturday as the Quakers fell 51-7 at the College of Mount St. Joseph.
The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair was tight in the first half as the Lions led 9-0.
The Lions (6-3, 6-2) scored a touchdown and missed the extra point in the first quarter and then added a field goal with seven seconds remaining in the opening half.
In the third quarter, Mount St. Joseph scored twice to build a 23-0 advantage.
Earlham got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter on a 44-yard pass from Matt Couch to Leslie Dunlap with 8:15 left in the contest.
Another highlight for the Quakers was Jalen Kenner establishing a pair of Earlham school records.
Kenner grabbed eight passes for 84 yards to set new season standards for catches with 68 and yards with 943. James Jewell set the reception record of 65 in 2003. Chris Owens had the mark for receiving yardage with 909 in 2006.
Couch finished the afternoon with 24 completions in 43 attempts for 231 yards. Dunlap had eight catches for 79 yards and a score.
Tre Stephens led the Quakers on the ground with 67 yards on nine carries. Malik Reid added four catches for 31 yards.
Kaleb Lingg and Junior Jean led the Earlham defense with 10 tackles each. Jean also had an interception.
Earlham (2-7, 1-6) ends its season next Saturday with a conference game at home against the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Senior Day contest gets underway at 1:30 p.m.
