Quakers Finish Football Season at Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Earlham College closed out the 2014 season on Saturday with a 41-10 loss at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

With the win, the Engineers (7-3, 5-3) retained the Battle of the Borders Broadsword.

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference was close in the first half.

Rose-Hulman led 7-0 after one period, before the Quakers got on the scoreboard early in the second stanza.

Ryan Acosta made it 7-3 with a 30-yard field goal at the 14:49 mark, which put him on top of

Earlham's all-time list with 17 in his career.

The Engineers answered with a touchdown at 13:51 to go on top 14-3.

Levi Hansen cut the deficit with a 1-yard run at 8:54 to make it 14-10.

In the third quarter, Rose-Hulman had 20 points to take control of the contest.

Earlham quarterback Brennan Laird was 19-of-30 for 144 yards.

Jalen Kenner had five catches for 39 yards to finish the season with 62 receptions for 652 yards.Kenner extended his career reception mark to 187 after setting a school record against Hanover College earlier this month.

Marcaus Cooper also had five grabs for 41 yards.

Defensively, David Dyer led the Quakers with 11 tackles. Mason Davis added 10 stops.

Lajay Kelly finished with eight tackles and Ishmael MacNeil had an interception.
Earlham end the fall at 0-10 and 0-8 in the HCAC.
