Box Score NO. MANCHESTER, Ind. — The Earlham College football team opened its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday with a 55-7 loss at Manchester University.
The Spartans (2-1, 1-0) led 28-0 at halftime.
Earlham scored its touchdown on its first drive of the second half. Brennan Laird tossed a 52-yard scoring strike to Wesley Hundley at the 12:53 mark to make it 28-7.
Manchester responded with another touchdown and two field goals to build a 41-7 advantage.
Laird finished the afternoon by completing 16-of-27 passes for 168 yards.
Jalen Kenner led the Quakers with seven receptions for 64 yards, Marcaus Cooper added five grabs for 33 yards. Hundley had three catches for 78 yards.
Defensively, Mason Davis led the Quakers with eight tackles. Lajay Kelly had seven tackles and James Johnson had six.
The Quakers (0-3, 0-1) are back in action next Saturday at home against Anderson University. The HCAC affair in Darrell Beane Stadium is slated for 1:30 p.m.
