Football Loses at Defiance

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Earlham College football team fell at Defiance 51-7 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets shutout the Quakers in the first half and led 34-0 at the intermission. Earlham scored its lone touchdown of the game on 12 play, 65 yard drive capped off by a six yard scamper from sophomore quarterback Welsey Hundley in the third quarter.

Hundley finished with 84 yard passing and 62 yards rushing to lead the Quakers in both categories. Senior wide receiver Jalen Kenner, who has now caught a pass in 37 straight games, grabbed three receptions for 29 yards.

Defensively, senior Adam Jolly, junior Lajay Kelly, sophomore Ishmael MacNeil, and sophomore Dakota Fields all finished with seven tackles.

Defiance rushed for 334 yards as a team. Individually, Cody Wilson and Andrew Adderly finished with 95 and 89 yards respectively. The Yellow Jacket defense forced five Earlham turnovers.

The Quakers return home for their final two contests beginning with a homecoming bout with Hanover next Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m.
