Football Scores 27 In Loss at Mount St. Joseph

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Sophomore quarterback Wesley Hundley gained 217 yards, but the Mount St. Joseph Lions scored 35 first-quarter points en route to a 58-27 victory over the Earlham College football team in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play on Saturday.

The Lions (2-2, 2-1 HCAC) used a Quaker turnover to score 21 points in just under five minutes of play. Earlham did throw three touchdown passes in the second quarter, but Mount St. Joseph (MSJ) led 48-19 at halftime.

Hundley finished 14-28 for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman Hunter Kohls also threw a touchdown pass. Freshman running back Sam Panton carried the ball 13 times for 89 yards, the Quakers' best individual rushing performance of the season to date.

Senior wide receiver Jalen Kenner hauled in five receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown. Senior tight end Matt coach and sophomore wide receiver Marcaus Cooper also caught touchdowns.

MSJ was led by Mike Williams who finished 9-18 for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Charles McCall ran just four times, but tallied 122 yards and two scores.

Defensively, junior Lajay Kelly finished with 12 tackles. Senior Adam Jolly had one interception.

Earlham continues HCAC play hosting Franklin next Saturday (Oct. 10) at Darrell Beane Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
