Football Shutout in Loss at Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Earlham College football team failed to score in a 30-0 shutout loss at Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon.

The Bison (1-1) scored one touchdown each quarter and converted successful two-point conversions in the first, second, and fourth quarters. Antoine McKinney scored Gallaudet's two touchdowns in the second half as well as passing for a touchdown as time expired in the first half.

Gallaudet rambled for 302 yards on the ground on 55 carries. McKinney led the way with 57 yards while Alvin Anthony III had six rushes for 53 yards. In total, 11 different Bison rushed the ball.

The Earlham offense was held to just 77 yards of offense in the contest. Sophomore quarterback Treylon Anderson completed 17 passes for 111 yards. Junior wide receiver Marcaus Cooper hauled in five passes for 52 yards.

Defensively, freshman Grant Bowersock made eight tackles to lead the Quakers. Senior Lajay Kelly added seven tackles including one for loss.

The Quakers stand at 0-2 on the season and will open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play next Saturday (Sept. 17) hosting Anderson University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
