LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Earlham College cross country teams competed at the Live in Lou Classic Cross Country meet on Saturday. The meet takes place on the course that will serve as host for the NCAA Championship meet next month.
The Quakers competed against some of the best runners from around the NCAA, as top teams came to prepare for the national meet.
The Earlham men finished in 19th place out of the 43 teams that scored points, and led all HCAC schools. The women's team finished in 36th place.
Connor Del Carmen led the way for Earlham with a time of 25:21 in the 8k. The freshman finished in 31st place overall. The next Earlham runner on the men's side was
Austin Burt, recording a time of 26:20 to finish in 88th place. Del Carmen's effort broke the school record in the 8k event by four seconds.
Shianna Bellingham was the first Earlham finisher on the women's side with a time of 25:41 in the 6k event. Bellingham's time ranked her in 164th place among female competitors.
Greta Shaffer was runner up for the Quakers with a time of 26:25 and a 185th place finish.
Earlham will compete next at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic on October 15th at Wilmington College.
