Rob Hewitt enters his first season as co-head coach for the Earlham College cross country and track & field programs in 2016-17.

Rob Hewitt comes to Earlham from Germantown Friends High School in Philadelphia, Pa., where he has served as director of boys’ and girls’ cross country and track & field since 2014. Prior to being promoted to director, Rob was head boys’ cross country and indoor track & field coach as well as assistant outdoor track & field coach from 2004-13. He has also held positions as head girls’ track & field coach, head girls’ cross country coach, and advisor at Germantown Friends.

A five-time Pennsylvania Independent Schools Cross Country Coach of the Year, Rob has led Germantown Friends to ten boys’ cross country state championships and five girls’ cross country state championships. His 2007 and 2009 boys’ teams finished top 15 nationally with the 2009 team qualifying for Nike Cross Country Nationals.

Rob has coached two state championship teams in track and field – girls in 2015 and boys in 2010. He has mentored 21 student-athletes to All-American recognition including 11 USATF Jr. National Qualifiers. In 2008, the Distance Medley Relay Team won the Championship of America.

A USATF Level Two certified coach, Rob graduated from Saint Joseph’s University in 2003. As a Hawk, he was a four-year letterwinner in cross country and track and field. He was a co-captain of a cross country team that finished second in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Rob and his wife Claire, also a co-head cross country and track & field coach, reside in Richmond.
