Jim Etling enters his second season as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach and NCAA Compliance Officer for the 2025-2026 season.
Etling begins his second season as a part of the Quakers coaching staff after serving both as the Assistant Coach, and interim Head of the Men’s Basketball program during the 2024-2025 season. He was also the acting Head Coach for Earlham’s 78-69 win over Bluffton on Jan. 15th, 2025.
While at Earlham, Etling has played a major role in all facets of the program; on the coaching side, including practice planning, skill development, film breakdown, all recruiting efforts in addition to overseeing Earlham’s elite camp direction. He also implemented academic, as well as career center consultation meetings for all members of the men’s basketball team.
Etling comes to Earlham after earning his M.B.A. from Georgetown’s prestigious McDonough School of Business. He also has experience with multiple coaching and administrative duties at IMG Academy, and ProSkills Basketball, a nationwide club organization.
Etling earned his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University where he earned a double major in English and Religious Studies. Etling had a 4-year playing career where he served as captain for two, and still holds school records in both free throw percentage, and assist to turnover ratio.
Prior to his time in coaching, and directly following his undergraduate career, Etling spent two years working on Wall Street.
