RICHMOND, Ind. — A goal late in the second half gave
Wabash College a 4-3 victory over the
Earlham College men's soccer team Wednesday on Matlack Field.
The Little Giants (9-8-1, 4-4) scored at 78:04 to take the lead and they were able to hold off several attempts by the Quakers to tie the match.
Earlham scored first when
Nick Costello found the back of the net at 11:42 with
Bannet Asingura assisting on the play.
Unfortunately for the Quakers,
Wabash scored three times to take control of the contest. The Quakers, however, fought back with a goal by
Omar Dreidi at 39:08. Asingura was credited with the assist.
In the second period, Earlham tied the match at 3-3 off a corner kick. Asingura scored at 56:47 with assists going to
Irhad Strika and
Michael Carroll.
Wabash led 13-10 in shots and 9-4 in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Jonah Kreniske had two saves for the Quakers in the first, while Kyle Thompson had one in the second period.
Wednesday was also the last home contest Dreidi and fellow seniors,
Mamary Diarra,
Will Katz and
Galen Wilder.
The Quakers (7-7-3, 2-5-1) finish the season on Saturday at Kenyon College. The NCAC match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
