RICHMOND, Ind. — Shots were being attempted at a furious pace on Tuesday as the
Earlham College women's soccer team dominated
Anderson University in a 5-0 victory on Matlack Field.
The Quakers had a 50-0 advantage in shots and a 9-0 margin in corner kicks. The standard for shots in a game is not part of the North Coast Athletic Conference record book, but every starter for Earlham attempted a shot with five different players scoring goals.
The first score came at 1:10 when
Karman Duchon found the back of the net to give the Quakers a 1-0 lead. The second tally came when Duchon assisted
JoBeth Buckley at 34:41, which gave Earlham a 2-0 lead at intermission.
In the second half,
Kelly Sprague scored on a header at 54:49. The play came on a corner kick by
Joy Doucette.
Lauren Berry made it 4-0 at the 58:57 mark with Buckley and Duchon assisting on the play.
Rachel Dana had Earlham's final goal on a long shot that hit the post and went into the net.
Megan Holthaus played in goal for the Quakers and wasn't challenged during the contest.
Earlham (5-1) visits
Albion College on Friday. The non-conference contest at the
Michigan school gets underway at 5 p.m.
