Earlham Blanks Anderson University

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. Shots were being attempted at a furious pace on Tuesday as the Earlham College women's soccer team dominated Anderson University in a 5-0 victory on Matlack Field.

The Quakers had a 50-0 advantage in shots and a 9-0 margin in corner kicks. The standard for shots in a game is not part of the North Coast Athletic Conference record book, but every starter for Earlham attempted a shot with five different players scoring goals.

The first score came at 1:10 when Karman Duchon found the back of the net to give the Quakers a 1-0 lead. The second tally came when Duchon assisted JoBeth Buckley at 34:41, which gave Earlham a 2-0 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Kelly Sprague scored on a header at 54:49. The play came on a corner kick by Joy Doucette. Lauren Berry made it 4-0 at the 58:57 mark with Buckley and Duchon assisting on the play.

Rachel Dana had Earlham's final goal on a long shot that hit the post and went into the net.

Megan Holthaus played in goal for the Quakers and wasn't challenged during the contest.

Earlham (5-1) visits Albion College on Friday. The non-conference contest at the Michigan school gets underway at 5 p.m.
