RICHMOND, Ind. — The
Earlham College men's basketball team had three players in double figures Wednesday night as the Quakers fell 88-64 to
Wittenberg University on
Schuckman Court in the Athletics and
Wellness Center.
A. J. Sutherlin led the Quakers with 16 points, while
Shane Heidt tossed in 13 points to go with his team-high six rebounds and three assists.
Ryan Taylor added 11 points and
Kyle Calder finished with nine points.
Earlham fell behind early as the Tigers (14-4, 6-3) jumped out to a 10-2 advantage. The Quakers were able to respond to tie the contest at 12-12 when
Justin Barger hit 1-of-2 free throws at the 11:12 mark.
The teams exchanged treys with
Taylor nailing a 3-pointer to make it 15-15 with 8:44 remaining. However, by intermission
Wittenberg had built a 39-27 lead.
In the second half, the margin stayed about the same until the Tigers began to widen the gap midway through the period.
The Quakers (3-15, 1-8) visit Oberlin College on Saturday. The NCAC contest starts at 3 p.m.
