Late Score Proves to Be the Difference as EC Falls

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's soccer team surrendered a late goal on Saturday as the Quakers fell 2-1 to Anderson University in the first-ever Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest in school history.

With the scored tied at 1-1, Anderson (2-4-4, 1-0-1) was able to find the goal at the 83:10 mark for the game-winning score.

Michael Carroll (Fairfax, VA, Oldham County High School) excited the Matlack Field faithful with an unassisted goal at 18:15 to give the Quakers an early advantage.

Late in the opening period, the Ravens tied the contest at 40:06 to set the stage for the final score.

The Quakers led 16-5 in shots and 11-3 in corner kicks. Earlham goalkeeper Jonah Kreniske (New York, NY, Martin Luther King Jr. High School) had one save.

Earlham (3-7, 0-1) is on the road Tuesday at Bluffton University. The HCAC contest begins at 4 p.m.
