LEXINGTON, Ky. — A slow start was too much for the Earlham College men's basketball team to overcome on Wednesday night as the Quakers fell 90-54 to Transylvania University.
The Quakers got behind early in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest as the Pioneers grabbed a 15-5 lead with 15:32 left in the opening period.
When
Josh Green (Campbellsburg, IN, West Washington) scored to make it 17-7 at the 14:31 mark, that would be as close as Earlham would get as the Quakers eventually trailed 44-19 at the half. In the second half, the Pioneers (11-5, 5-4) extended their margin to post the victory.
Green led the Quakers with 16 points and six rebounds.
Kyle Tucker (Vincennes, IN) tossed in 13 points, while Dustin Rusk added 10 points and four rebounds.
Earlham (2-14, 0-9) is back at home on Saturday against Franklin College. The HCAC game on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center begins at 2 p.m.
