CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Earlham College men's basketball team opened 2011 with a 72-54 loss on Wednesday to the College of Mount St. Joseph in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest.
Colton Bragg (Richmond, IN, Richmond) led the Quakers with 22 points and three steals, while grabbing six rebounds.
Marcus Bledsoe (Indianapolis, IN, Ritter) added eight points.
Justin Barger (Ellettsville, IN, Edgewood) tossed in seven points to go with six rebounds.
Dustin Rusk (Frankfort, IN, Clinton Prairie) scored five points and had six rebounds.
Kyle Tucker (Vincennes, IN, Lincoln) topped the squad with seven rebounds.
Ryan Taylor (Martinsville, IN, Martinsville) gave the Quakers what turned out to be there only lead of the night with a 3-pointer to start the game.
The Lions (3-9, 1-4) eventually worked their way to a 10-5 advantage at the 16:21 mark of the first half.
Josh Green (Campbellsburg, IN, West Washington) got the Quakers closer with a 3-pointer that made it 17-15 with 9:41 remaining in the opening stanza.
Unfortunately for the Quakers, Mount St. Joseph responded to post a 36-26 lead by intermission.
In the second half, the Lions would widen the margin, but the Quakers would get as close as nine points three times with the last time coming with 14:01 left to play with Bragg scored to make it 46-37.
From that point, Mount St. Joseph assumed control and held a double-digit advantage the rest of the way.
Earlham (2-10, 0-5) returns home on Saturday to face HCAC foe Hanover College on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center at 3 p.m.
