Quakers One Win From HCAC Title

Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Earlham College women's soccer team is now one win away from claiming at least a share of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship for the second straight year.

With a 2-0 win over the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on a rainy Wednesday night, the Quakers are 10-5-1 overall and 7-1 in the conference with one match remaining. The Quakers finish the regular season on Saturday at home against Franklin College. The HCAC match on Matlack Field begins at 1 p.m.

Earlham, ranked No. 10 in the latest Great Lakes Region poll, is tied with Hanover College at the top of the HCAC standings. Hanover is 12-2-1 and 7-1 after defeating Franklin College 1-0 on Wednesday.

After a scoreless opening period, Ikumi Doucette (Berwyn Heights, MD, Eleanor Roosevelt) gave the Quakers a 1-0 advantage at the 58:01 mark with her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Ryder Comstock (Yellow Springs, OH, Yellow Springs) scored Earlham's second goal of the match at 71:03. It was Comstock's sixth score of the fall. Paige Thomas (Bel Air, MD, Baltimore Friends School) had an assist on the play.

Earlham goalkeeper Kate Franks (Hopewell, OH, West Muskingum ) had four saves for the Quakers, who led 14-4 in shots. Earlham also had a 4-0 lead in corner kicks.
