EC Packs the House

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College volleyball team "Packed the House" on Wednesday night.

The promotion to create excitement and attendance at Earlham matches drew over 400 fans as Franklin College pulled out a tight contest with a 19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23 decision over the Quakers.

"I was thrilled with the turnout and support the crowd provided," Earlham Head Coach Loni Clark said. "The visiting area teams had a lot fun."

"I was very pleased with our performance in the match," Clark added. "Our program is moving forward and we will continue to surprise our opponents."

Jazmyn Corlew (Elyria, OH, Elyria) led the Quakers with 16 kills and 24 digs in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest with the Grizzlies (5-14, 1-4) on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Andrea Thompson (McCordsville, IN, Muncie Burris) added 13 kills and 19 digs, while Meg Huffmeyer (Osgood, Indiana, Jac-Cen-Del) contributed 12 kills, 13 digs and a team-high five service aces.

Ashlee Heberger (Fairport, NY, Fairport) led Earlham with 45 assists. Kazondra Ramos (Commerce, CA, El Rancho) finished with 18 digs.

The Quakers (3-16, 0-4) return to action on Saturday at Bluffton University. The Quakers meet the Beavers in a HCAC match at 1 p.m. They follow that contest with another match with the University of Mount Union at 3 p.m.
