RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's basketball team had two players in double figures on Wednesday as the Quakers lost an 84-63 decision to Transylvania University.
Ryan Taylor (Martinsville, IN, Martinsville) and
Kyle Tucker (Vincennes, IN, Lincoln) led the Quakers with 14 points each in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Marty Broderick (Mooresville, IN, Mooresville) and
Colton Bragg (Richmond, IN, Richmond) finished with nine points each, while
Justin Barger (Ellettsville, IN, Edgewood) tossed in eight points.
Josh Green (Campbellsburg, IN, West Washington) finished with six points and four assists and
Dustin Rusk (Frankfort, IN, Clinton Prairie) added three points with a team-high five rebounds.
The Quakers were able to lead 5-4 early in the contest when Broderick scored with 17:31 left in the opening stanza.
Transylvania (17-7, 11-6) scored the next eight points to build a 12-5 lead at the 15:29 mark.
Taylor's 3-pointer with 12:33 remaining in the first half pulled the Quakers to with in 15-13, but the Pioneers were able to grab at 42-28 advantage by intermission.
In the second half, the Pioneers scored the first 12 points before Bragg hit jumper to make it 54-30 with 16:22 remaining in the contest. From that point, the Pioneers were able to hold off the Quakers as the picked up the win.
Earlham (2-22, 0-17) finishes its season on Saturday as the Quakers entertain HCAC foe Bluffton University at 3 p.m.
