Quakers Fall to Grizzlies in Five

FRANKLIN, Ind. — The Earlham College volleyball team dropped a tight contest on Wednesday to Franklin College 25-21, 25-18, 11-25, 22-25, 15-10.

Andrea Thompson (McCordsville, IN, Muncie Burris) led the Quakers with 16 kills and three aces in the non-conference match between the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foes. The teams meet for the HCAC battle in Richmond on Oct. 5.

Jazmyn Corlew (Elyria, OH, Elyria) finished with 14 kills and a team-high six blocks, while Meg Huffmeyer (Osgood, Indiana, Jac-Cen-Del) added 10 kills. Ashlee Heberger (Fairport, NY, Fairport) had 38 assists.

As a team, the Quakers had 86 digs with Kazondra Ramos (Commerce, CA, El Rancho) leading the way with 21. Thompson and Huffmeyer finished with 19 each, while Corlew and Heberger had 10 apiece.

The Quakers (1-9) return to action on Saturday with a pair of matches during Homecoming Weekend. The first contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center is with Central State University at 1 p.m. The second match is against Cincinnati Christian University at 5 p.m.
