Early Goal Gives Quakers Victory Over DePauw

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's soccer team scored early on Tuesday and knocked off regionally-ranked DePauw University 1-0.

Ikumi Doucette (Berwyn Heights, MD, Eleanor Roosevelt) found the back of the net for an unassisted goal at 9:08 to give the Quakers an advantage they were able to hold on to the rest of the way against the Tigers (4-5), who are ranked No. 8 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Great Lakes Regional poll.

For Doucette, it was her second score of the fall and fifth of her career.

Shots for the non-conference match on Matlack Field were even at 9-9 with the Quakers leading 6-2 in corner kicks.

Earlham goalkeeper Kate Franks (Hopewell, OH, West Muskingum ) had five saves to post her second shutout of the season and third of her career.

The Quakers (3-4-1) begin play in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday at Anderson University. The match gets underway at 2 p.m.
