DELAWARE, Ohio — The Earlham College volleyball team fell twice on Saturday as the Quakers finished play in the Bishop Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Quakers began the day with a 25-19, 25-5, 25-15 loss to Denison University. Grove City College then defeated Earlham 25-16, 25-14, 25-13.
Andrea Thompson (McCordsville, IN, Muncie Burris),
Jazmyn Corlew (Elyria, OH, Elyria) and
Meg Huffmeyer (Osgood, Indiana, Jac-Cen-Del) led the way against Denison with three kills each.
Ashlee Heberger (Fairport, NY, Fairport) added nine assists.
Thompson added three service aces, while Corlew finished with nine digs.
Against Grove City, Huffmeyer topped the squad with six kills. Corlew had four kills and Thompson and Heberger had three each.
Heberger contributed 13 assists. Corlew ended with a team-high nine digs, while Thompson and Heberger had six apiece.
Earlham (0-4) has its home opener on Wednesday against Manchester College. The match is considered non-conference and starts at 7:30 p.m. The two squads meet for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Manchester on Oct. 15.
