Quakers Face Rose-Hulman

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's basketball team started 2012 on Tuesday night against the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest.

The Engineers defeated the Quakers 73-43 on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Colton Bragg (Richmond, IN, Richmond) led the Quakers with 11 points and three blocks, while Dustin Rusk (Frankfort, IN, Clinton Prairie) added 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.

Kyle Calder (Crawfordsville, IN, North Montgomery) tossed in nine points with Justin Barger (Ellettsville, IN, Edgewood) contributing eight points. Barger and Eric Messer (Indianapolis, IN, International) had five rebounds each.

Rose-Hulman (10-2, 4-1) jumped out to a 9-0 advantage early in the contest before Calder scored to end the run at 17:47 of the first half.

The Quakers cut the deficit to 11-6 when Bragg scored at the 14:41 mark.

After Barger hit a pair of free throws to make it 25-19 with 4:17 remaining in the opening stanza, Rose-Hulman finished the period with nine straight points to build a 34-19 lead at intermission.

In the second half, the Engineers were able to maintain their margin on the way to the win.

Earlham (0-12, 0-5) visits Manchester College on Saturday. The HCAC affair gets underway at 3 p.m.
