Quakers Score Season-High Six Goals in Win

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's soccer team maintained the top spot in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday as the Quakers beat Anderson University 6-1 on Matlack Field.

With the win, Earlham is 8-4-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the HCAC.

The season-high six goals are the most the Quakers had scored since a 6-0 win over Manchester University on Oct. 23, 2010.

The Quakers scored four times in the first half as they built a 4-1 advantage by intermission.

Joy Doucette (Berwyn Heights, MD, Eleanor Roosevelt) scored the first goal at 12:58.

Ryder Comstock (Yellow Springs, OH, Yellow Springs) added two straight scores at 23:27 and 28:39 with Christine Page (Exeter, NH, Exeter) assisting on both plays.

The Ravens (0-14, 0-5) found the back of the net at 33:16, but Molly Altreuter (New York, NY, Brooklyn Friends) answered for the Quakers at 34:52.

In the second half, Doucette and Cate Simmermaker (Louisville, KY, DuPont Manual ) combined for two goals.

Simmermaker scored at 64:48 with Doucette assisting.

Moments later at 67:03, Doucette picked up her second goal of the contest with Simmermaker assisting.

Comstock now leads the HCAC in goals with nine, while Doucette has eight scores. Combining her goals and six assists Doucette is on top in the conference with 22 points.

Earlham goalkeeper Ashley (A.J.) Johnson (Columbus, OH, Ohio Virtual Academy) had one save as the Quakers held a 25-4 advantage in shots. Earlham led 9-0 in corner kicks.

The Quakers return to action on Wednesday at Transylvania University. The HCAC match gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
