LEXINGTON, Ky. — A pair of second half goals were the difference on Wednesday as the Earlham College men's soccer team fell 2-1 at Transylvania University.
It was the first loss of the season for Earlham (3-8-4, 1-1-4) in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and put the Quakers in sixth place.
The Pioneers (11-1-2, 5-0-1), who lead the HCAC, scored at 63;26 to tie the match and then picked up the game-winner at 84:43.
Evan Elko (Summit, NJ, Summit HS) scored Earlham's goal in the opening period at 36:17 with an assist going to
Jacob Ebbs (Brookline, MA, Brookline).
Transylvania led 8-6 in shots and 5-0 in corner kicks. Earlham goalkeeper
Chris Marshall (Highland Park, NJ , Highland Park HS) had three saves for the Quakers.
Earlham plays Manchester University Saturday on Matlack Field. The Homecoming Weekend match gets underway at 3:30 p.m.
