EC Gets First HCAC Win

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — After a pair of ties to begin its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule, the Earlham College men's soccer squad picked up a 3-0 over Bluffton University on Saturday.

The Quakers scored twice in the first half against the Beavers (2-8, 0-2) before adding the final goal of the contest in the second period.

The victory puts the Quakers in third place in the HCAC standings behind Transylvania University and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Jacob Ebbs (Brookline, MA, Brookline) scored the first goal of his collegiate career at 30:24 to give the Quakers an early advantage. Ibrahim Diarra (Brazzaville, Congo, International) assisted on the score.

Diarra got his chance for a goal at the 42:26 mark of the opening period with an assist from Zander Ansara (Carlisle, MA, Concord Carlisle).

In the second half, Ebbs scored at 57:49 with Ansara picking up an assist.

The Quakers led 21-7 in shots and 7-1 in corner kicks. Earlham goalkeeper Chris Marshall (Highland Park, NJ , Highland Park HS) had five saves for the Quakers.

Next up for Earlham (3-7-2, 1-0-2) is a HCAC match with Hanover College at home on Tuesday. The contest starts at 4 p.m.
