Quakers and Panthers Play to 1-1 Tie

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — Another tie.

For the third time this season the Earlham College men's soccer team had a match end in a tie as the Quakers and Hanover College battled to a 1-1 score in double overtime.

The tie on Matlack Field puts Earlham at 3-7-3 overall and 1-0-3 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, which has the Quakers in third place. The Panthers are 4-6-3, 0-3-1.

Jacob Ebbs (Brookline, MA, Brookline) scored his third goal of the season at 15:10 to give the Quakers an early 1-0 lead. Alex Ferreira (Richmond, IN, Richmond) assisted on the play.

The advantage would not last as the Panthers tied the contest with a score at 21:06.

In the second period, the Quakers had an opportunity to take the lead, but a shot Felicien Muyumba (Lexington, KY, Tates Creek) hit the left post at 57:26. Ferreira's shot off the rebound was knocked away by a Hanover defender.

Both teams had some chances after that, but nothing that led to a score.

Earlham led 13-8 in shots, while the corner kicks were even at 3-3. Earlham goalkeeper Chris Marshall (Highland Park, NJ , Highland Park HS) had three saves for the Quakers.

Next up for the Quakers is a HCAC affair at home on Saturday against Anderson University. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
