RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College men's basketball team opened the home portion of the schedule on Saturday as the Quakers fell 78-49 to Denison University.
Dustin Rusk (Frankfort, IN, Clinton Prairie) and
Jack O'Flaherty (Sheridan, IN, Sheridan) led Earlham with 11 points each against the Big Red (2-0) on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Rusk and
Kristian Barden (Detroit, MI, Pershing) pulled down nine rebounds apiece.
Tyler Lewers (Indianapolis, IN, Gary West) tossed in seven points, while
Marty Broderick (Mooresville, IN, Mooresville) added five points and six rebounds.
Denison led the entire contest, but the Quakers were able to keep the game close during most of the first half. When Lewers scored with 4:04 left in the opening stanza, the Quakers trailed 26-21.
The Big Red finished the period with an 11-2 run to lead 37-23 at halftime.
The Quakers (0-2) are back on the court at home Sunday afternoon against Oberlin College. The non-conference contest starts at 3 p.m.
