RICHMOND, Ind. — After a scoreless first half there was plenty of action on Wednesday as the Earlham College men's soccer team battled with Oberlin College for the Freedom Trophy.
The Yeomen were able to pick up a 3-2 victory over the Quakers on Matlack Field.
Oberlin (5-1) scored the first goal of the contest at 54:13 to grab an early lead.
It didn't last long as the Quakers responded at 54:57 when
Felicien Muyumba (Lexington, KY, Tates Creek) found the back of the net to tie the match at 1-1.
At the 63:30 mark, the Quakers took the lead as they pressured the Yeomen and forced an own goal.
Oberlin then answered with goals at 71:03 and 76:20 to take the lead for good.
The Quakers led in shots with a 9-7 edge, while Oberlin had a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Chris Marshall (Highland Park, NJ , Highland Park HS) had two saves for the Quakers.
The Freedom Trophy was established in 2005 by the 1954 Earlham men's soccer team when that squad was inducted into the Earlham Athletics Hall of Fame. Oberlin now leads the series 4-3 as the Yeomen ended the Quakers two-match winning streak for the trophy.
Earlham (2-3) plays its first road contest of the fall on Saturday as the Quakers visit Wilmington College. The non-conference affair gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
