BLUFFTON, Ohio — The Earlham College men's basketball team had four players in double figures on Wednesday night as the Quakers fell 85-69 to Bluffton University.
Dustin Rusk (Frankfort, IN, Clinton Prairie) had 14 points to lead the Quakers in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair.
Tyler Lewers (Indianapolis, IN, Gary West) tossed in 12 points, while
Jack O'Flaherty (Sheridan, IN, Sheridan) added 11 points.
Vadial Jett (Richmond, IN, Richmond) finished with 10 points.
Kristian Barden (Detroit, MI, Pershing) topped the Quakers with 10 rebounds and four assists.
Bluffton started the contest with a 9-0 lead by the 17:24 mark of the opening period.
The Quakers got closer when
Blake Welch (Lynn, IN, Randolph Southern) hit a 3-pointer at 16:13 to make it 11-5.
After the Beavers (8-10, 4-7) widened its margin, Earlham was able to pull to within 24-18 when Barden drilled a 3-pointer at the 7:06 mark.
By intermission, Bluffton had a 46-31 advantage.
In the second half, the Quakers closed the gap to 49-39 when Lewers scored with 17:43 left. From that point, the Beavers were able to maintain their edge to post the win.
Earlham (2-16, 1-10) is on the road on Saturday at Anderson University. The HCAC game begins at 3 p.m.
