Douglas Scores Career Best Against Hornets

Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. â€" The Earlham College men's basketball team closed out the MIAA/HCAC Challenge on Friday with an 102-83 loss at Kalamazoo College.

Kirk Douglas led the Quakers with a career-high 28 points against the Hornets (2-0). He also had six rebounds and three assists. His previous high was 11 points, which he scored on Thursday against Trine University.

Jack O'Flaherty was one point off his career best effort with 24 points. He had 25 points against Oberlin College early last season.

Chris Holmes and Phillip Boone added seven points each. Kristian Barden tied Douglas with team-high totals of six rebounds and three assists.

After Douglas scored the first basket of the game, the Hornets capped a 10-0 run at the 16:37 mark to take the lead.

A 3-pointer by Boone cut Earlham's deficit to 15-11 with 13:54 left in the opening stanza.

By intermission, Kalamazoo held a 51-36 advantage.

In the second half, O'Flaherty drilled a 3-pointer at the 16:00 mark to pull the Quakers to within 58-47.

The Quakers (0-4) are on the road Monday at Kenyon College. The non-conference affair gets underway at 7 p.m.
