Quakers Fall at Denison

Box Score GRANVILLE, Ohio â€" The Earlham College men's basketball team had four players in double figures on Monday night as the Quakers fell 80-76 at Denison University.

Michael Parker led the way for the Quakers with 21 points and Phillip Boone tossed in 13 points. Kirk Douglas and Chris Holmes added 12 points each.

Douglas topped the squad with eight rebounds and Parker pulled down seven. Holmes had six rebounds.

Jack O'Flaherty finished with eight points and three assists.

The game was tight early as both teams held small leads. The Quakers were on top 6-5 at the 15:00 mark after Parker scored.

Parker then gave the Quakers a 9-7 lead when he hit a 3-pointer at 13:38.

With 11:58 left in the first half, Lajay Kelly tied the affair for the Quakers at 11-11.

The Big Red (4-6) scored the next seven points to go on top 18-11 at 10:39.

Denison widened its margin to 33-22 with 4:57 left, but the Quakers were able to fight back to trail 38-32 at the break.

In the second half, the Quakers were able to cut the deficit to 38-35 when Douglas hit one of two free throws with 18:49 remaining.

Denison went on a run to build a 46-35 advantage at the 16:13 mark.

Earlham battled back to a 79-76 score with six seconds left to play on a 3-pointer by Parker, but Dension was able to clinch the game with a free throw with five ticks left.

The Quakers (2-8) are back in action on Saturday with a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Franklin College scheduled for 3 p.m.
